About
Kelsey Pierson is an architectural designer and freelance illustrator living in Seattle, Washington. She holds a Masters of Architecture from the University of Washington, where she was a 2018 Valle Scholar in Copenhagen. There, she researched architectural strategies for water infrastructure and climate change. Having also spent time in Mexico City, this research led to a thesis exploration of water and equity in Mexico City’s peripheral neighborhoods.
Half Chinese-Trinidadian and half northern European, Kelsey is heavily influenced by cultural and traditional practices, rich-but-considered color palettes, and quiet beauty. Her illustration work is rooted in her architectural background, studying and paying homage to elegant forms, scenes, and characters. She is drawn to mixing analog (pencil, gouache, collage) and digital detailing methods.
