In a neighborhood that lacks true public space, this project attempts to address the need for exterior and interior space for an artistic community. Multiple masses explore how exterior space can be shaped and become a place of gathering. The concept evolved into the idea of a mass emerging from the ground, where the tops of these volumes break through the ground plane, creating opportunities to bring light to the programs below as well as informing the space above. The volumes shape the site of the plaza to allow connection to the Georgetown neighborhood and encourage flow and flexibility. The three volumes are connected underground, where the main circulation passes through each prism to feel movement through each. The path arrives beneath all volumes that welcome you to stay, providing spaces that the above can look down onto.
